As many of you know, CAL uses ACS and CEVO uses CMN3 for an anti-cheat system.

Please keep in mind that the CMN and ACS are not a cheat-PREVENTION utilities -- they are cheat-DETECTION utilities. It will not kick players from matches or give any indication to any of the other players if a cheat is detected. Logs are thoroughly reviewed and re-reviewed by an executive as a standard part of the dispute process.


As for the overall effectiveness of the, they of course cannot guarantee 100% detection. To do so would be foolhardy and naive. However, they have always been and will always be willing to invest whatever resources necessary to continually test and improve CMN and ACS as they become aware of new threats. In the vast majority of cases, CMN and ACS already detects whatever new cheats they throw at it without even having to make changes. Even so, CMN and ACS are receiving server-side updates on a regular basis and we are constantly looking for ways to improve our detection abilities.

They are also always on the lookout for the latest and greatest cheats on the market, and they welcome your help. They keep up on things pretty well, but there are hundreds if not thousands of places to download cheats, and the websites are constantly changing.

But do they keep up with active hackers that sell cheats? I don't think so. Some of you may have heard of the name Jimster before. He's a guy that has been selling his private hacks and makes sure that he stays ahead of CEVO and CAL officials.

He actually claims:

This guy actually has a disclaimer that reads "If cheats are used responsibly and instructions are followed you should not get banned from the noted leagues. However I,nor does this site take responsibility for you getting banned from noted leagues due to irresponsible usage of cheats and/or failure to follow instructions."

I pray that CAL and CEVO are keeping up with this guys updates for hacks. IF you look at this guy's client list (http://jimster480.byethost24.com/forums/index.php) you can see that their are potentially hundreds of active paying hackers.
